When in the arrest position, with the chains slack, the lug remains engaged with the corner fittings and cannot fall free. When lifting commences the lug is self aligning and takes the angle dictated by sling arrangement.
Combilift straddle carrier
The above case demonstrates an example of Reverse Hand Lifting when using a longer top lifting frame to lift a shorter freight unit. Here, it is necessary to swap hands of lugs so that when load is released the slings take up the arrest position and remain engaged in corner fittings without falling free.
In the above instructions this is shown when Right Hand Lug is inserted into Left Hand corner fitting and vica versa with the opposite hand.
